Dear Hephatha Family,
So, what did I learn during these last couple of weeks?
First, I learned that rain and cold weather is not as uncommon in Southern California as I once thought. In fact, I, along with many others, experienced a Southern California snowstorm in the form of hail. And we experienced a series of unexpected rain storms and cold snaps.
Second, I learned that through the efforts of our amazing teachers, administrators, students, parents, and volunteers, the accreditation process for both our Day School and ECE was a tremendous success. This is a six-year accreditation and speaks to our strong faculty and administrator team. We're so thankful for this good news and rejoice with our ECE and Day School Ministries.
And lastly, I learned that every day here at Hephatha Lutheran Church & School, I see examples of self-sacrifice, kindness, and faithfulness—all in the name of our crucified and risen Savior, Jesus Christ. The district and local papers were writing about some of the exciting things the Lord is doing in our midst. To repeat what I heard someone say in the parking lot the other day, "God is doing exciting things at Hephatha!" Indeed, our Lord is doing some exciting work in and through the people of Hephatha.

This Wednesday we will be concluding the sermon series
"God Meant It For Good".
This Wednesday's sermon is entitled "Faith For A Complicated World" based on Luke 23:26–43.

We are currently in need of volunteers for this service for the children. Children's Sunday school is for children in K–6th grade. It is our goal to get enough workers so that you can anticipate volunteering on a rotational basis during the 9:30 am service. Hephatha's guidelines are as follows:
- Masks are not required for fully vaccinated individuals.
- Masks are no longer required for unvaccinated individuals in indoor public settings but are still recommended.
- While Hephatha asks that you follow the above guidelines for the protection of all, you will not be required to verify vaccination status, nor will you be turned away without a mask.

We have resumed our
regular communion practices.
Wine will be in trays with non-alcoholic wine in the center
and bread wafers will be on a tray and handed to you.
The Pastor and Elders will distribute communion to you.
If you have any questions please speak to an Elder or the Pastor.
Communion is offered at the following times:
8:00 am—2nd and 4th Sundays of the month
9:30 am—1st and 3rd Sundays of the month
11:00 am—2nd and 4th Sundays of the month

Do you know someone who is homebound that would like to experience worship? Do you have family that is in an assisted care facility that could use worship resources? Would you like extra encouragement from God's Word?
If so, we provide a weekly resource called "Worship at Home." It is a detailed and printed service with a message, prayers, and Bible readings. If you would like to receive a printed copy each week, please send your name and address, and you will be added to the mailing list.
